![]() ![]() Im just saying the whole point of a "sandbox" game, which this is, is being able to do what you want and not being forced to follow a path. Im not saying that there shouldnt be any story line as that can be added as a game mode. You say after 100 hours theres nothing left to do? There are many people here that have more than 100 hours in the game and they arent cronic builders like me. Not being forced to follow a path to get anywhere in the game. It supposed to be a game that you play the way you want. Does NOT need quests or missions or piddly little tasks to do to progress. In other words a sandbox game does NOT need a story. Instead of featuring segmented areas or numbered levels, a sandbox game usually occurs in a “world” to which the gamer has full access from start to finish.Ī sandbox game is also known as an open-world or free-roaming game" In contrast to a progression-style game, a sandbox game emphasizes roaming and allows a gamer to select tasks. A singular finish-able story line will only have limited appeal, and little replay appeal.Ī sandbox is a style of game in which minimal character limitations are placed on the gamer, allowing the gamer to roam and change a virtual world at will. And it will also give challenges to build or experiment FOR, challenges to overcome, reasons to keep playing. Having content that gives you a sense of accomplishment, but is not required and does not import some sense of finality to the game, will keep players more interested and give them something to do when the building and experimenting excitement wanes. Different things to do, all optional, all depending on what you feel like tackling and how. There should not be A proper story, there should be multiple stories, quests, etc. HOWEVER, with that said, there SHOULD be content with things to do in a good sandbox game, which I think fits into your views of what is needed in the game. Sandbox games with linear finite story lines usually stagnate, because once you've finished it, what's the point of playing any more? There should NEVER be "A start, a middle and an end." for this genre of game. There is, by definition, no "completion" to a sandbox game.
